This is a sort
of passport for pilgrims. You have to present it in order to stay at the
alburgues and all the alburgues and most merchants along the camino have a
special stamp that they use to stamp your book. Some of the stamps are very clever and all are unique so pilgrims try to
collect as many as possible. However, once you are walking your final 100kms
you must obtain at least two stamps each day. They want to make sure that you actual walked the camino. Our books were completely full by the time we
reached Sarria, so we went to the ancient convent Mosterio de Madalena and they
issued us another one. So now we are legal again.
Always the over achievers! What a wonderful memento, though, of your journey.
