Our final assault

We were blessed with the most gorgeous day so far.  Blue skies without a cloud in sight.  The trail took us through silver leafed eucalyptus and pine forests and even a grape arbor had been created over part of the trail.  Could not have been more perfect for our final day into Santiago.  The bells that we heard coming into town were actually removed by the Moors in 711 and not returned until 700 years later.  I'm sure there are some of us who wish it would have been longer.  There have been several trail-side memorials to those who have died while on the camino.  We have seen photos of US military personnel among the tributes at some of the other memorials.  Very moving.  So as we enter the city, we can not help but be very thankful for our safe arrival.

A memorial along the trail

A very humble memorial
