Conventos

Arco San Benito - Sahagun
Virgin dressed as pilgrim - Sahagun
This same little town has/had over 5 large churches, several monasteries, and pilgrim hostels dating from 10thc so it somehow seemed fitting that we stay at the Monasterio Santa Cruz.  This was our first stay in a convento and contrary to what Jerry suspected, it didn't fall down when he entered although it may have had some new cracks (hard to tell) The Sisters were associated with a foundation that was supporting the miner's children in a remote part of Peru.  The children made wonderful jewelry from various dried fruits.  Somehow we had a hard time convincing the Sisters that we couldn't take some of the pieces with us.  The Arco San Benito is behind the Monasterio and Museo which houses the Virgin dressed as a pilgrim.
