Burgos was such an interesting city. It is famous not just for the Cathedral but also as
the
birthplace of “El Cid” the famous military leader and hero in medieval
Spain. He was called El Cid the Lord by
the Moors and Campeador by the Christians. He and his wife are entombed in the
Cathedral de Santa Maria where there is a larger than life-size painting of him. He was a very handsome man…looked nothing
like Charlton Heston. On leaving the next morning, we past the Solar el Cid, a
monument built on the spot where he lived. Just some scenes of the city and the alburgue where we stayed.
