No GPS required

Making sure we don't get lost
For those of you who think we are out here bushwhacking our way or using celestial navigation, we have to confess that we are actually just following the trail markers. As you probably have realized the scallop shell is the symbol of the Camino and also acts as a metaphor.  The grooves in the shell, which meet at a single point represent the various routes pilgrims traveled, eventually arriving at a single destination...Santiago de Compostela.  It also served a very practical purpose as it was the right size for gathering water to drink or serving as a makeshift bowl.  A thousand years later it is used to keep us all on the right trail.
