| How Far???? |
On the road again. 6:15 and we were in the door of the café
across the river for a cup of coffee.
Still dark but a well-marked trail.
The terrain has now changed from the steep hills and vineyards to
rolling hills of grain and hillsides of sunflowers. We even saw two
hop fields! Walked with a former
British Naval officer and wife. What an
interesting couple and it really helped make the morning fly by. Before we knew
it, we had put in 13 miles and were at the door of a wonder alburgue…with beds
and wonderful bath facilities. Both
greatly appreciated. Believe it or not,
nearby is the where an anonymous monk first wrote down the Spanish language,
Castilian Castellano and has been challenging all of us since then. It is also the birthplace of the Gregorian
chant in Spain. Guess they had to start
someplace!
