Before you make any SA comments, here is the legend.  A pilgrim couple and their son stopped at an inn here and the pretty innkeeper’s daughter tried to seduce the son, but he thwarted her advances.  Incensed by his refusal she hid a silver goblet in his backpack and reported that he had stolen it.  The son was condemned to hang but sometime later the parents found him hanging but miraculously still alive…thanks to the intervention of Santo Domingo.  The rushed to the Sheriff’s house and found him about to eat.  Upon hearing the news, he said that their son was no more alive than the cock that he was about to ear, whereupon the fowl stood up on the dish and crowed loudly.  The Sheriff rushed to cut down the son, who was given a full pardon.  The church has a coop at the rear of the church and we  were gloriously serenaded by the local “cock”.  However, we did see pollo on the menu!
