La Cruz de Ferro

Off early and we definitely could tell we were approaching our next mountain range as the weather was starting to change. Decided to layer up against the cold as we would be climbing to the highest point on the camino.. 1504 mts. (4,934 ft).  Higher than the Pyrenees. The scenery is gorgeous with beautiful forest.  At the top of our climb was the famous Iron Cross atop a weathered pole that is one of the important symbols of the camino. What started at ground level has now grown to 22 ft high. It is customary to bring a stone/token of love and to ask for a blessing or to unburden yourself before adding a stone to the huge pile of offering below the cross.

La Cruz de Ferro
We feel too blessed and w/o any real burdens to ask for anything more for ourselves.  However, we have carried shells from our favorite beach in San Carlos to ask for a blessing on dear friends who are dealing with a recent cancer diagnosis.  May they know how much we care!

  1. Thank you so much. The stones are beautiful and the blessing is gratefully acknowledged and much appreciated. With love.....
